Hello and thank you for visiting my personal page!
I can't believe it has only been a year. Not even actually, this time last year Rafa was in the midst of his second round of chemotherapy. He had another round in May and then at the end of June he had his 6 hour long surgery. The worst part of thinking back on last year is realizing how preventable it all was. If there was more awareness about testicular cancer then most of what we went through could have been avoided. We almost lost Rafa last year. It was explained to us that there was a very good chance of recovery but that if we didn't get treatment started right away, then he was going to die. Looking back, it is ridiculous that it got to that point. This could have been diagnosed in the summer when his back pain started, instead of on Valentine's Day of the following year when he had a tumour larger than his liver, and more.
This year we are fortunate enough to be able to participate in something that can help others avoid having to go through what we went through. Many of you who will read this already helped us get through last year, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. If you can, please help us in our mission to raise awareness of cancers below the waist, such as testicular, so that they can be diagnosed and dealt with quickly, before things get even more dangerous.
I have joined Alberta Cancer Foundation?s Underwear AffairŽ - a 10K run / 5K walk to uncover cures for cancers below the waist. It?s not only fun, but it fights prostate, colon, testicular, and ovarian cancer, among others. What can you do about it? You can donate to me! Don?t be shy - it?s about giving these devastating cancers some exposure and shedding some light on their cures. So please help me in my effort to raise money for care and research for cancers "down there!"
