In September 2007, my mom, Bonnie Butt, was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 42.  At first, we were all optimistic of a speedy recovery, with bouts of chemo and radiation it seemed that within 6-8 months she had struggled and won her fight.  During the fall of 2008, during a check-up, it turned out that the cancer had returned, but this time it had spread to her liver and once again she continued her fight with additional chemo and radiation.  In January 2009, she had lost her fight with cancer and passed away at the age of 43.

This is why we are running (or walking)!

Cancer research has come such a long way, however has not come quite far enough.  With your help, we can all work together to bring awareness to all types of cancers and hopefully one day find a cure.
